Top Gun Private Detective "Best of the Best" Part II

Reprinted from "The Legal Brief Revue, Enforcement & Investigation"

A Day In The Life Of A Top Gun Private Investigator (continued) The book "Deadly Weekend" is a high profile true crime murder case that was solved by Price in the Crescent City of New Orleans, "The Big Easy."  He says he still carries the 9-millimeter automatic pistol he used in that case. When asked what disturbs him the most about parental kidnapping Price says, "The kids are just that, innocent children caught in the middle of adult crossfire, uprooted from all that's familiar to them, from everything they've ever known and loved:   their extended families, their classmates, teachers, sports and most of all their custodial parent.  This is a reprehensible thing to do to a child who they say they love.  A sense of security and stability is one of the most important ingredients in the healthy development of children.  For a parent who professes to love them just to tear them away from all those things so vital to heir well being is not only a very selfish act, it's a crime, punishable by State and Federal statutes of Law.  It usually doesn't take long before the parent on the run realizes they acted on impulse, out of anger. When it finally dawns on them how much they're hurting the kids they love, they want to come back and live right.  By then there are usually State and Federal warrants.  They are looking at jail time.  They think there's no turning back without huge consequences.

If I get a tip that they want to come back and do the right thing I'm proud to say I bend over backwards acting as a go-between.  Many times through the attorney I am able to work out a deal for them.

But, that's only if they decide to come in voluntarily.  When I catch them on the run, I don't pussyfoot around.  My primary concern is the safety and psychological welfare of the child. My teams uses brains NOT brawn, leaving that to the police agencies if needed.  My goal is to give them back their life." Price served in the US Army and was a member of a military intelligence team.  He was a firearms instructor and was a member of the U.S. Army Rifle and Pistol Team.  In pistol competition he could shoot 290 out of a possible score of 300.  He was an expert with all types of American and Russian machine guns and has many certificates and awards on his office wall as proof.

Price has traveled extensively in and out of Central America, the Bahamas and all over Europe on all types of impossible missions.  His passport looks like a "travel log" of stamps and visas from around the world. Price as and still is the leader of an elite group of five operators from across the United States, 2 former Federal agents, 2 former CIA internationally known agents, and 1 female formerly a vice and narcotics officer with a major city police department.  This group of experts, known worldwide, also has knowledge of the operation of sophisticated electronics and computers.

Recently his team tracked a person in the high profile child abduction case of a 7-year-old boy across the country using high-tech satellite GPS systems, air planes and a Harley Davidson motorcycle before they located the abducting father for the authorities.

The father was arrested trying to go into Canada and the boy was recovered for the mother who had not seen her son in over a year. Price has all type of letters and awards on his mission impossible victories.  One parent was told at first that no one could locate her child, but then Price and his Recovery Team located the child in just 30 days.  Father in jail, child back with her mother--- CASE CLOSED! Price has appeared on many radio and T.V. talk shows in reference to cases and also in reference to some of the techniques used to locate people. One child, Price recovered in South America in 1976, who was 5 years old at the time, has recently completed his own investigation into his childhood abduction by his mother. He reviewed his court file and found Dick Price's name as the man who was instrumental in finding him.  He contacted Price and arranged a meeting with him. This young man wanted to shake Price's hand and let Price know what a great life he had growing up after being reunited with his Dad and grandparents.  This young man is now married and has a new son of his own.  Guess who the Godfather is?  Price takes it all in in stride.  He says, "It's really quite ironic, there are all kinds of underground networks out there hiding parents and their children on the run and doing it in the name of religion and God.  I find the boy in the underground and end up being his son's Godfather!  I think that's what they call poetic justice."  Then he smiles and adds, "I call it, the icing on the cake."
